There is so much hatred, uncertainty, and fear going around right now. If you follow the news and related discussions on any economic, political, or environmental decisions, it’s easy to feel hopeless and powerless. The world can seem volatile, divided, and threatening, instead of a place full of hope and opportunities, something to embrace with open arms.
This blog is not and will never be political. I’ll keep my opinions to myself (however difficult it might be sometimes)! What I will say though – as a curious traveller with itchy feet – that it’s in times like this when it’s even more important than ever to overcome apprehension and fear, to connect with people. Hop on a plane or a train, go on a road trip, visit new villages, cities, and countries, talk to strangers, feel adventurous, and be kind. Although it may sound like an old cliché, travel does broaden your mind. Sometimes things go wrong, occasionally you may come across unpleasant characters but hey, that’s all part of life. All in all, this third rock from the sun is still a fascinating place and home to so many awesome, wonderful people that let’s try to stay positive and open-minded, engage in conversations, and remember that our own actions and words can make a real difference in someone’s life.
On that note, I’m ready to pack my rucksack again later this month and head off to a city I haven’t been to before. Not long now, Hamburg! (Normal travel blogging will resume after the trip!)
