About me

After a lot of persistent prodding from my friends I  finally accepted the exciting challenge to start a travel blog. Why I resisted so long was partly because I don’t really think of myself as a writer and partly because I wasn’t sure what unique aspect I could possibly offer. After all, there are already thousands and thousands of bloggers out there giving valuable information to their fellow travellers or sharing fabulous stories from their adventures with us avid readers. With sporadic short trips with my faithful red rucksack spent on mainly mooching and absorbing the vibe, what could I actually write about?

But then, that’s exactly what I decided to write about: the vibe, the sounds, the scents, the overall impressions. The people I see going about their lives, the gorgeous smells from a food market, the exhilarating feeling after a long hike when you have the perfect view over a city skyline and beyond. I would take snapshots of quirky little places I’d come across in the side streets, beautiful food at farmers’ markets, and magnificent buildings which look as if they would last forever; I would try to capture the vibe of a festival, the beauty of a late night stroll, or the art of an intricate latte design because good coffee does matter!

As itchy as my feet may be, I’m not on the road all the time gaining incredible new experiences to write about. However, I have lots of wonderful – and sometimes patchy! – memories of past trips which I will try to capture on ‘Throwback Travels’. Whilst these ingredients for the new posts are simmering in the pot, I’ll be adding all sorts of random travel-related images on Instagram, some going back several years, some only moments ago.

I’m not a backpacker but being on the road with just the basics is so much easier than having to struggle with suitcases at busy airports or on board packed trains. The change of scenery is good for the soul, whether it means a trip to the more exotic parts of the world or to a village festival in the neighbouring county. When I have a chance, I basically travel.

  1. I checked many of Your post and find them good. Thank You.

Travel blog. Well, is my blog travel blog, because I am presenting only one country and travel thru it from the east to the west, from the south to the north and everywhere between them?

Yesterday one blogger commented my About-me-page that I am excellent ambassador to Finland.

    Happy and safe travels!
